The state of emergency of food security in Nigeria is in a crucial move with some significant stakeholders to drive away hunger in Nigeria. The empowerment is meant for at-least 100,000 women to be equiped and energized in various Agricultural sector to save Nigerians from Hunger.
However, inorder to make the empowerment a successful one, the Nigeria Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) and UNESCO have joined force with the House of Representatives to enhance the development of food security in Nigeria.
This announcement was made by the president of POWA and wife to the Police IGP, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun. She said “As President of POWA, I am mobilising 100,000 women to boost the agricultural workforce, strengthening the agricultural value chain to mitigate risks of disorder due to food shortage.”
Furthermore, the House of Representatives have backed this initiative and they’re beseeching Nigerians in the diaspora to return home and invest in Agricultural industry in Nigeria. According to information gathered from POWA Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, September 28, the House of Rep Committee on diaspora chairman, Rt Hon Tanko Adamu, said fighting food shortage has become essential to save Nigerians from crisis.
The diaspora chairman added that it’s time to beseech and involve influential Nigerians worldwide to delve into an Agritech industry to help increase food productions and drive away food scarcity and shortage in Nigeria.

In conclusion, this empowerment is assumed to be the antidote that would clamp down on food insecurity across the 36 states of Nigeria. The partnership between the House Of Representatives and POWA would help enhance the agricultural value chain of the empowerment in Nigeria.
