Steps to Register and Link Your NIN to MTN, Airtel, Glo, 9mobile How to Get Started

Steps to Register and Link Your NIN to MTN, Airtel, Glo, 9mobile and Bank? The Nigerian National Identification Number (NIN) is a unique identifier issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). It is mandatory for every Nigerian to be enrolled and issued the NIN for comprehensive identification purposes. In the near future, this number is expected to be linked to all individual activities, including banking transactions.

This post outlines practical ways to retrieve and link your National Identification Number (NIN) using the USSD code on major network operators or through other online platforms.

The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), had previously mandated telecommunication operators to block all unregistered SIM cards. To prevent disconnection, ensure you follow the procedures to link your line with your National Identification Number (NIN).

National Identification Number Registration

For those yet to enroll for NIMC’s NIN:

  1. Visit the online pre-enrollment portal for forms and guidelines or download the NIMC registration form here.
  2. Walk into any NIMC enrollment center nationwide.
  3. Register through licensed agents in your neighborhood.

Note: One registration issues both the NIMC card and NIN. The 11-digit NIN is distinct from the National e-ID Card, which is a physical token. The NIN can be used independently for digital identity verification.

NIMC Enrollment Centers

Designated centers across the country and overseas locations facilitate NIN enrollment. Visit the NIMC webpage for a comprehensive list of centers.
